HKICF is proud to present the inaugural HKICF Global Summer Music Camp which provides unique learning opportunities for young people of all ages (from K3 to F.3 or above).Traveling may not be as easy as before but this shouldn’t stop you from experiencing all the musical colours of the world!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

(1) Where will the physical summer chorus classes take place?
The summer chorus will take place at TWGHs Kitty Woo Music & Arts Development Centre (2/F Tung Chiu Commercial Centre, 193 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai).

(2) What are the major types of classes we can choose?
We offer 3 major types of classes:
(A) Music Fundamentals : Fun ways to learn basic music knowledge! (Three regular sessions of online classes);
(B) Workshops on specific genres : Learn about a particular music style, like: Jazz, R&B! (One-off online class); and
(C) Summer Chorus : Sing and make music together! (Two sessions of physical classes).

(3) Are there any discounts?
Discounts available:
(A) Early bird discount of 10% on all courses and workshops available until 15 Jul 2022;
(B) Additional 5% discount if 2 or more applicants enrol at the same time.

(4) What is the application procedure?
You can apply here (https://bit.ly/musiccampapplication) immediately. Upon applying online, the following things will happen:
(A) You will receive an automatic email stating that we have received your application (This is NOT a confirmation of your enrolment);
(B) Within 5 working days, you will receive an email containing the (1) Payment amount; and (2) the Payment Methods (FPS, bank transfer & cheque);
(B) In the same email, you will also receive a link to an online form for you to upload your proof of payment;
(C) Once your proof of payment is uploaded,  you will automatically receive a confirmation email.

(5) I am not sure which year of study of classes I should apply to?
Please consider your year of study in the coming semester beginning in September 2022, e.g. if you will become a Form 1 student in September 2022, then you should apply for classes designed for F.1 level.

Our programme brochures (https://bit.ly/hkicfmusiccampbrochures) are separated based on the different available programmes for different year of study. You only need to choose the age-appropriate brochure to know the suitable programmes available for you.

(6) Can I apply for classes that are not designated for my year of study?
As the course materials and activities are designed for that particular age group of participants, therefore it is best advised that you choose the programmes that are designated for your year of study so as to get the most of our programmes.

With the 5th wave of the pandemic waning, we have decided to PHYSICALLY host the postponed Competition cum Masterclass (For schools that cannot compete physically, we have also made online arrangement for these choirs) and Alex Tam’s Workshop for Music Teachers. Details are as below:

(26 Jan 22) HKICF 2022 Online Opening Ceremony & Keynote Presentation

The opening ceremony & keynote presentation of the 5th edition of the Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival (HKICF) was successfully held on 22 January! The online event was attended by more than 250 music educators from Hong Kong and around the world as well as primary and secondary school students, teachers and parents, drawing more than 2,000 views.

The ceremony invited a number of guests to give the opening address, including: The Hon. Henry Tang (Chairman, West Kowloon Cultural District Authority), Ms Winsome Chow (Chief Executive, HK Arts Development Council) and The Hon. Kenneth Fok (Legislative Councillor, the Sports, Performing Arts, Culture and Publication sectors). They are all heartened to see HKICF carrying on its mission of promoting choral music education in the face of the pandemic.

Hong Kong Inter-School Choir (a new initiative under HKICF) also pre-recorded its performance of the Festival’s 5th anniversary theme song and gave the world premiere of the song during the ceremony.

Besides, during the keynote presentation, renowned Japanese conductor and composer Prof. Ko Matsushita discussed and shared his musical journey and insights with Mr. Kelvin Lau (Artistic Director, HKICF) and Ms. Nancy Cheng (founder/conductor, Ko Chorus).

(14 Jan 22) Latest Online Arrangement for HKICF 2022 Events

Thank you for giving your enthusiastic support to HKICF 2022!

Given the current COVID situation in Hong Kong and the latest measures imposed by the Government, we have made the following arrangement for the activities of HKICF2022 in the best interest of our participating students and teachers:

Activities Arrangements
Keynote Presentation & Opening Ceremony Will be conducted online via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent out in a separate email.
Workshops for Music Teachers & Conductors
  1. Alex Tam’s “Finding the Right Voices for Different Styles” Workshop will be postponed until further notice. If the workshop cannot be scheduled by the end of June 2022 due to COVID-19 or venue availability, this workshop will be cancelled;
  2. All other workshops will be moved online via Zoom. Corresponding Zoom links will be sent out in separate emails.
Mass School Choir Masterclass All sessions will be postponed until further notice. If the sessions cannot be scheduled by the end of June 2022 due to COVID-19 or venue availability, mass school choir masterclass will be cancelled;
Competition cum Masterclass The Competition cum Masterclass sessions that originally take place between 25th and 27th January at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall Auditorium will be conducted in the form of video submission mode. Details are as follow:

  1. Choirs are required to video record their choirs’ performances, and upload them to Google Drive. The link to the Google Drive should then be emailed to [email protected]. The deadline for submitting the videos will not be earlier than the end of March, and maybe further postponed if the pandemic restriction continues.
  2. The video submissions will be reviewed by two adjudicators.
  3. We will compile the video submissions, together with the comment given by the adjudicators into one video, which will be shared with the teachers of the choirs. The teachers should share and review the videos together with their students.
  4. Upon receiving the first round of comments, choirs can choose whether they want to submit another round of recording or not. The adjudicators will then provide another round of written comments for free; Alternatively, the choirs can choose to engage the artistic director or the adjudicators to personally coach your choirs
