HKICF2023 Mass School Choir Masterclass

Mass School Choir Masterclass is specially curated for school choirs which like to participate in a choir masterclass without the competition component. This Masterclass involves one to two choral experts leading the participating choirs through warm-up exercises and learning a new song. Only minimal preparation is required to participate in this event.

We are honoured to have Mr. Tim Wayne-Wright to travel from New Zealand to host the HKICF2023 Mass School Choir Masterclass. A former member of The King’s Singers from 2009-2018, Tim Wayne-Wright will share with choir members his expertise on what it truly means to be an ensemble singer.

Tim will cover the main issues and hurdles that every choir faces. From vowel matching to using vocal colours, all the key elements of good choral and ensemble singing will be explained and explored. A seasoned performer himself, Tim will also share his tips on engaging and communicating with the audience, and explore with students techniques to make the stories communicated through their songs more genuine and compelling.

Participants will be grouped into one of four sessions based on their age to ensure that the content will be level-appropriate for them.
