Entering its 3rd year, HKICF has become a highly anticipated choral event in Hong Kong.
This year, more than 4,000 students and around 400 teachers from over 80 choirs have participated in various programmes of HKICF.
In addition to the regular events, HKICF also introduced a new feature, “Choir Exchange” this year, during which choirs can practice and learn new songs together under the guidance of our acclaimed trainers.

Elise Bradley, MNZM (Canada)
The 2019-2020 season, ‘Earth, Sea and Sky’, marks Elise Bradley’s thirteenth year as Artistic Director of the over 400-member Toronto Children’s Chorus. A passionate musician, award-winning conductor and educator, and internationally respected adjudicator and clinician, Ms. Bradley served for many years as the Head of Department, Music, at Westlake Girls’ High School in Auckland, New Zealand. She founded and conducted the school’s renowned treble choir, Key Cygnetures from 1991-2007, and directed the New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir from 2001-2007, both of which won numerous national and international awards. She was also a soloist and member of New Zealand’s National Chamber Choir, Voices New Zealand. In May 2018, Ms. Bradley was named a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM), a Royal Honour awarded in recognition of her services to Music.
Since arriving in Toronto in 2007, Ms. Bradley has garnered praise for her artistry and for her deep commitment to children and the art of treble choral music. She has also led the Chamber Choir on nine international tours – Austria, the Czech Republic and Germany (2009), Brazil and Argentina (2011), Sweden (2012), South Africa (2013), Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland (2015), Boston and New York City (2016), Bahamas (2016), Spain, to perform at the World Symposium on Choral Music in Barcelona (2017), and New Zealand and Australia (2019) – and four provincial tours: Ontario (2012), Quebec and Ontario (2013), Nova Scotia (2014), and Newfoundland and Labrador (2018).
As Artistic Director, Elise Bradley has commissioned Canadian composers to write new works to be premiered by the Toronto Children’s Chorus and prepared the Chorale and Chamber Choirs to appear as guests of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Youth Orchestra, Tafelmusik, Opera Atelier, Bach Consort, Soundstreams, and the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir. She also receives many invitations to work with choirs, adjudicate at festivals, and present at conferences around the world, including America Cantat 7 (Colombia), Choralfest (Australia), Dozan wa Awtar (Jordan), the inaugural National Children’s Choir (New Zealand), IFCM World Choral Expo (China), Kokopelli Choirs (Canada), Gondwana Voices (Australia), the 70th Music Festival of the Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Association (Hong Kong), the World Symposia on Choral Music (including Argentina, South Korea and Spain), Orientale Concentus (Singapore), and Crystal Children’s Choir (United States), etc.
Louise Kwong (Hong Kong)
Louise Kwong is a soprano at the Young Artist Programme of Rome Opera House in Italy from 2018-2019. She is a graduate of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Dutch National Opera Academy, the Conservatory of Amsterdam and the Royal College of Music of London.
Louise’s sung operatic roles include Mimì in Puccini’s La Bohème, Cio-cio-san in Puccini’s Madame Butterfly, Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen, Liù in Puccini’s Turandot, Santuzza in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana, Nedda in Leoncavallo’s I Pagliacci, Anna in Donizetti’s Anna Bolena, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, La Contessa in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro and Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte and First Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberfloete.
Louise debuted at the Rome Opera House in Italy as the role of Mimì in La Bohème, Micaela in Carmen and The First Lady in Die Zauberflöte in 2018. In Asia, Louise debuted at the National Centre of Performing Arts in Beijing as the title role Rita in the opera The Dawn Here is Quiet and was well received. Louise Kwong is the prize winner of numerous international singing competitions, including the 2nd prize, Audience prize and the Best Soprano prize in the 18th International Singing Competition Ferruccio Tagliavini in Austria. Louise’s artistic achievement was recognized by the Hong Kong SAR Government and she was awarded with the Young Artist Award in Music (2014) and in the Commendatory Scheme of the Secretary of Home Affairs (2015).
Her upcoming engagements include performing with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in “Sounds of Hong Kong” concerts in Nov 2019 and Beethoven’s aria “Ah! Perfido” in March 2020 under the baton of Jaap van Zweden.
Chi Hoe Mak (Malaysia)
Chi Hoe Mak enjoys a varied career as an award-winning choral conductor, singer, adjudicator and clinician. He is currently Artistic Director of Young Choral Academy, Artistic Director of the Penang Philharmonic Chorus, and Principal Artist and Resident Chorus Master of Kuala Lumpur City Opera.
As a choral conductor, Chi Hoe is co-founder of the Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod (MCE), a leading national and international choral festival in Malaysia and has won numerous prizes and awards with his choirs at several international choir competitions. He was the first Asian conductor to win a prestigious fellowship to work with the London Symphony Chorus in 2010 which launched his conducting career in the UK and was subsequently Resident Chorus Master at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire from 2009-2012. He made his critically acclaimed UK festival debut in 2011 as Chorus Master for the Lichfield Festival Chorus and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) and other guest conducting positions soon followed.
A singer of noted versatility, Chi Hoe was a prize winner at several voice competitions including First Prizes at the 1997 and 1998 Malaysian National Art Song Competitions and received the 2015 Cameronian Arts Award for Best Vocal Performance for the year. He has sung as a soloist with all the major orchestras in Malaysia, including several collaborations with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Concert engagements have taken him to China, Indonesia, France, Germany, Singapore, Spain and throughout the UK.
Chi Hoe studied at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire in the UK, where he received two Master of Music (MMus) degrees in Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting, both with Distinctions and the Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Performance. He was named one of Birmingham’s ‘New Generation Artists’ in 2008, winning all the major conducting prizes at College including the 2009 and 2010 Michael Beech Conducting Awards and the prestigious Principal’s Prize for ‘outstanding contribution to the musical life at the institution’.
