Vivian Ip

Associate Conductor of The Hong Kong Sinfonietta

Vivian Ip has served as an advisor of the Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival since 2019. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in music at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (First Honour). With an Associate Instructorship and the Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fellowship for Overseas Studies, she received her Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting at the Indiana University Bloomington. Ip graduated in Orchestral Conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, receiving the highest award of the year, under the supervision of Uroš Lajovic and Johannes Wildner.

Ip achieved promising results in international conducting competitions such as the Besançon International Competition for Young Conductors, the Grzegorz Fitelberg International Competition for Conductors, Antal Dorati International Conducting Competition, International Conducting Competition Jeunesses Musicales Bucharest, and the International Competition for Young Choral Conductors. In July 2018, she led Xing-er Symphony Orchestra to win the Gold Award at the 6th World Orchestra Festival in Vienna, where she also received the Talented Conductor Prize.

Ip is also a devoted educator. She has given seminars and workshops for the Rimavská Sobota Choral Festival, Slovakia, Hong Kong Music Office, Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival, among others.
