Hong kong Inter-School Choir

The Hong Kong Inter-School Choir (HKISC) is an extension project of HKICF Plus, which aims to nurture the next generation of choral leaders, build students’ self-confidence, leadership skills and team spirit, and provide students with the opportunity to give back to and serve the community through music. The choir consists of talented and passionate students from different schools in Hong Kong who represent their schools in the choir and receive full choral scholarships as encouragement.

This programme has entered its third year, and this year, we are grateful for the support from the community so that, in addition to the existing primary and secondary school divisions, we have opened a junior secondary school division. This allows students with musical talent to have continuous exposure to choral music from primary school and throughout their secondary school years, creating precious memories in their teenage years.

The current choir is composed of 110 students from 57 different primary and secondary schools, participating in weekly training sessions for a year. In addition to the weekly rehearsals, we are committed to providing various performance opportunities for the choral group. During the Christmas holiday last year, HKISC participated in the “Dream & Children Christmas Music Performance” at the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital, singing alongside the young patients. They had another public performance at the “Hong Kong WinterFest 2023 – Christmas Town” in the West Kowloon Cultural District. Moreover, they will be participating in a series of HKICF2024 activities, including the Guest Choir of the Year – Defrost Youth Choir Exchange Programme and the Defrost Youth Choir Concert, Virtual Choir Project, and serving as a demonstration choir in various workshops. Last but not least, they will participate in the Hong Kong Inter-School Choir 2024 Concert on 12 May 2024, allowing members to showcase their musical talents and what they have learned on stage.
